Job summary

Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore in Ogden is seeking a part-time cashier to deliver friendly, efficient service and accurate POS transactions. The role involves greeting customers, handling cash, bagging purchases, and keeping shelves stocked and organized.

You will support volunteers, maintain a clean, inviting store environment, and ensure safety while processing sales and handling daily cash. Weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or higher.
• Basic cash handling knowledge is a plus, but not required.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work Saturdays.
• Must be able to lift 25+ lbs., stand, squat, bend, walk, and climb.
• Ability to pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Represents ReStore in a professional manner with customers, donors, volunteers and the public.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting shoppers.
• Operate a Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity point-of-sale register.
• Open, close and verify cash in register; complete sales transactions.
• Issue receipts, refunds and credits; maintain cash accountability.
• Stock and maintain merchandise; keep store organized and safe.
• Help engage volunteers and support a positive environment.
• Any other assignment deemed necessary by ReStore management.

Part-time hours (no more than 20 hours per week)

Responsibilities:

The ReStore Cashier ensures that customers and donors receive professional, timely, and efficient service. The cashier ensures that all point-of-sale transactions are recorded, purchases are bagged, shelves are organized, and merchandise maintained. Reporting to the ReStore Manager, the cashier works with other staff members to ensure front of store is open and inviting to all customers.

Duties:

• Represents ReStore in a professional manner when dealing with buyers, donors, volunteers, fellow staff members, and the general public both in person and over phone
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting/assisting customers while shopping
• Answer customer questions and provide information on store's policies and procedures
• Operate a Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity point-of-sale register
• Open, close and verify cash in register
• Accurately complete all sales transactions and maintain proper cash accountabilities during shift
• Issue receipts, refunds, credits and/or change due to customers
• Label goods as sold/carryout/sale-pending
• Stocks and maintains merchandise in store, adequately and safely
• Help maintain a clean, well-organized store and facilitate a safe and secure working and shopping environment
• Encourages volunteer program success by contributing to a positive, supportive atmosphere and encouraging volunteer engagement
• Any other assignment deemed necessary by ReStore management

Requirements:

• Be committed to the Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity's mission
• Knowledge of basic cash handling is a plus, but not necessary
• Excellent customer service skills
• High School graduate or higher
• Basic mathematical skills
• Must be able to work Saturdays
• Must be able to lift 25+ lbs., stand, squat, bend, walk, and climb on a consistent basis
• Ability to relate to people with diverse backgrounds
• Meet all deadlines agreed upon with the immediate manager
• Ability to pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening test
