Job Summary

The Cashier in Nutrition Services is responsible for selling food to students and staff, operating the cash register, and maintaining the serving line. The role involves handling transactions, preparing food, maintaining cleanliness, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Receive payments via cash, vouchers, or electronic methods; issue receipts and handle refunds or credits.
  2. Assist in food preparation and packaging, ensuring proper food temperature and portion sizes.
  3. Stock and rotate food items on the serving line.
  4. Keep checkout areas clean and perform general cleaning duties.
  5. Answer customer questions and provide information on procedures or policies.
  6. Resolve customer complaints, process returns and exchanges.
  7. Identify prices and use cash registers or scanners to tabulate bills.
  8. Balance sales with received monies and complete necessary reports.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED/vocational training required.
Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of arithmetic for problem-solving.
Starting Salary

$19.62 per hour

Salaries are determined based on education, experience, and other qualifications. Final decisions are at the discretion of MNPS, and salary ranges are guidelines. More information is available here.
