Job Summary

Under the supervision of cafeteria managers, performs preparation functions and collection of cash.

What you will do
  • Assist in coordinating the proper storage and efficient use of food; weighs or measures ingredients following approved recipes; prepares, cooks, and serves food in accordance with the established standards; assist with serving and preparing additional food as needed.
  • Performs tasks in preparation for daily operation which include: checking temperatures, turning on equipment, setting up food lines, ensuring that all equipment is working properly and ready to be used for the day.
  • Collects money for food items purchased, balances cash drawer at end of shift, maintains cash flow records, prepares bank deposit slips, deposits receipts daily in bank to ensure proper cash flow records are maintained; deposit daily receipts if needed.
  • Determines needed quantities of food to ensure adequate amounts, assists in preparation of food.
  • Cleans kitchen in accordance with health and safety standards; cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment, counters and tables, mops and sweeps floors on a daily basis in compliance with local and state health regulations if needed.
  • Assist cluster manager in coordinating the work of cafeteria employees.
  • Keeps accurate records of meals, food production, milk used, a la carte items sold, and assists with inventory counts of food and supplies.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
Experience Qualifications
  • One year’s experience in cash handling, including ability to operate cash register and adding machines, ability to accurately count and record meals Required
Licenses and Certifications
  • DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Valid Tennessee Driver’s license Required
Equivalency
Starting At: $19.85

Salaries are determined by factors relevant to the position which may include education, experience, and other qualifications. Final compensation decisions are made at the discretion of MNPS in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. The stated salary range for certificated teaching positions is calculated based on 201 days and should be viewed as a reference. All provided salary ranges serve as a general guideline.
