Position Overview

General Function
Responsible for processing payments for utility services, assisting customers with account inquiries, and ensuring accurate and efficient financial transactions. The role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle financial transactions in a secure and organized manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities
None

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Receives and processes in-house and mailed-in customer utility payments.
  • Issues payment receipts for different tender methods while ensuring accurate posting to customer accounts.
  • Handles daily payment reconciliation and submits deposits.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant financial and auditing regulations.
  • Enters data and maintains customer account records update in the utility management system.
  • Responds to customer inquiries regarding utility bills, payments, and account status in person, over the phone, or via email.
  • Contacts and prepares correspondence for customers including USPS mail pick-up and drop-off.
  • Performs duties of a Clerk I as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.

Type Of Appointment/Work Hours

  • Full-time/Regular in-person position.
  • Standard workweek, which is forty (40) hours of work per week consisting of five (5) days of eight (8) hours per day or four (4) days of ten (10) hours per day. The work day may be varied for the efficient delivery of public service.
  • Will be required to work other than the standard workweek on occasion, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Will be required to work occasional overtime or shift assignments, if applicable.

Requirements

Qualifications & Work Environment

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalency.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience as a bank teller or a cashier in a position that required computerized data entry of cash, checks, credit card payments, etc.
  • Strong numerical and mathematical aptitude.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.
  • Must have the ability to work in an unsupervised environment.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must pass a background screening process to include credit history.
