Job description

REPORTS TO: STORE MANAGER AND/OR STORE LEAD

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: HOURLY/NON-EXEMPT   LAST UPDATED: OCTOBER 2016

POSITION SUMMARY

The cashier position is responsible for providing outstanding customer service, operating the point of sale (POS) register and other related equipment/devices, suggestive selling, displaying outstanding product knowledge, replenishing merchandise on shelves and coolers, and attending to various housekeeping matters. The position is required to tend to the needs of the LVL gamers/patrons and ensure overall Form W-2G compliance. The cashier must adhere to loss prevention policies and all other company policies and store standards.

Typical Schedule and Work Location

The cashier must be able to work various shifts to meet the staffing needs of the store(s). Schedules may be adjusted to accommodate work restrictions. Depending on staffing needs, employees may work at other nearby locations. Full-time employees are expected to work 35 hours per week; part-time employees work less than 35 hours.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of English language structure, content, spelling, and grammar
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in retail with POS systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, and internet browsing
Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Travel

No overnight travel is required. Some travel to other local stores may be necessary.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Provide excellent customer service by greeting, acknowledging, and maintaining high standards.
  2. Handle POS transactions, including returns, voids, cash, checks, coupons, and credit/debit transactions, and provide correct change.
  3. Complete safe drops, verify non-counterfeit money, and process credit/debit cards and checks.
  4. Validate LVL tickets, assist with cash kiosk patrons, and clean and stock related equipment and merchandise.
  5. Complete IRS Form W-2G following company policies.
  6. Perform end-of-shift/day balancing and reporting, including cash and check deposits.
  7. Replenish merchandise, participate in receiving, and perform housekeeping and maintenance duties.
  8. Report maintenance and equipment issues promptly to management.
  9. Assist technicians with troubleshooting LVL and other equipment issues.
  10. Monitor and communicate cash levels in ATMs and kiosks.
  11. Maintain professional appearance and wear company uniform.
  12. Record clock-in and clock-out times according to policy.
  13. Follow all company policies and procedures.

Physical & Environmental Demands

Employees spend time standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, and driving. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be necessary. Exposure to dust, fumes, odors, noise, and indoor environmental conditions is possible.
