Job summary

Ace Hardware is seeking a friendly cashier to join our neighborhood store team. You will greet customers, ring up purchases, issue receipts and refunds, and help maintain a clean, organized front end.

You’ll know the store layout, promote Ace Rewards, assist teammates, and adapt to flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Bilingual candidates are encouraged; applicants must be at least 16 years old.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and ensure a positive shopping experience using Ace's WOW process.
• Know store layout and departments to assist customers effectively.
• Promote Ace Rewards Program and maintain front-end displays.
• Assist with receipts, refunds, credits or changes for customers.
• Answer radio pages and customer calls quickly and courteously.
• Keep merchandise displays clean, organized and well stocked.
• Support management in achieving store metrics and Pinnacle status.
• Pursue trainings and learning opportunities as recommended.

Major Job Responsibilities

• Greet, welcome and work with customers to ensure that they have a positive experience in the store and that if they have a problem, it’s solved before they leave; this includes the use of Ace's W.O.W. process,
• Possess strong knowledge of store layout and most, if not all, of the store's departments and services
• Help the store achieve Ace's Pinnacle status and perform well within the outlined metrics provided by Ace and the store's management team
• Use provided communication and own tools in an effort to help the team work in the most efficient way to best serve customers
• Act as the store's representative when necessary and set a great example for our staff
• Help create a positive, professional, clean and safe environment
• Help answer associate radio pages and customer calls quickly, courteously and effectively
• Utilize available resources to effectively solve problems
• Pursue learning opportunities and trainings as recommended by the store's management team(s) and by self identification
• Remain in touch with daily operational goals and plans as outlined by store management
• Have an awareness of store promotions and various advertisements, promote the Ace Rewards Program
• Remain honest and communicative with customers, associates and management
• Ensure that merchandise displays, and especially in the front end area, are clean, organized and well stocked
• Issue receipts, refunds, credits or change due to customers
• Retrieve carts from building's exterior or call for cart pick ups as needed
• Have an exceptional organizational ability, pay high attention to detail and have the ability to multitask
• Other related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

• High school or GED equivalent experience

• Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays depending on the needs of the business
• Due to the potential of using power equipment and the store's scheduled hours, applicants must be at least 16 years of age
