• We have an opening for a seasonal CASHIER/FOOD SERVICE WORKER position.
• Location: The Capitol Cafe - 441 2nd & D Streets, Washington, DC 20515 Note: online applications accepted only.
• Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, hours may vary; more details upon interview.
• Requirement: Previous cash handling and customer service experience required.
• Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour

Job Summary

Summary: Operates Point of Sale system, assists the Chef, prepares coffee, and keeps the coffee and cashier stations clean.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Help prepare foods such as meats, vegetables, baked goods, and desserts. Assist with catering orders.
• Perform cashier duties using the POS system.
• Perform general cleaning duties; remove trash and garbage to designated areas.
• Provide service in all retail areas, including cashiering and line serving.
• Cashier according to established procedures, maintain cash accuracy with receipts, and make deposits at the end of each shift.
• Inventory and restock supplies and food products.
• Set up serving line, ensure temperatures are recorded and within acceptable ranges, notify cooks if not.
• Serve hot and cold items to customers.
• Set up items for purchase daily.
• Keep refrigerator stocked and product rotated using FIFO.
• Stock pantries with correct par levels, record replenishments, and refrigerator temperatures daily.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
