Job description

Reports to: Store Manager or Front End Supervisor

The purpose of this position is to create a sincere connection with our customers through polite and courteous service, while ensuring the appearance of the sales floor creates a desirable shopping experience.

Traits and Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail
  • Eye-hand coordination to sort, grasp, color coordinate, and tag
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to read and write

Physical Skill Requirements:

  • Lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs
  • Pushing and pulling 4 - 6 lbs of force
  • Standing 90% of the time
  • Repetitive use of hands - 100% of the time
  • Reaching overhead - 20% of the time
  • Pushing and pulling - 30% of the time
  • Bending and crouching - 40% of the time
  • Grasping items with hands - 90% of the time

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to the public on an ongoing basis
  • Exposure to temperature fluctuations periodically
  • Flexible with scheduling changes due to store needs and sales events
  • May require overtime occasionally due to store needs

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Customer engagement: Provide fast, friendly, and courteous service. Respond to customer questions or proactively find answers. Greet and assist customers on the sales floor with eye contact and smiles.
  • Assessing sales floor: Walk the sales floor, straighten and organize, remove trash. (40%)
  • Processing: Operate cash register, handle payments accurately, ring up and bag items. (20%)
  • Work area: Maintain cleanliness and organization for safety and efficiency. (Continual)
  • Safety: Follow safety guidelines, clean spills promptly, report hazards, keep cash drawer closed during transactions. (Ongoing)
  • Communication: Interact courteously with customers, report issues or hazards to management, communicate respectfully with staff. (Ongoing)
  • Meeting targets: Balance cash drawer accurately at each shift end. (Continual)
