Job summary

The Cashier/Counter team member at Memphis Zoo handles selling, preparing, and serving food and beverages. The role requires friendly service, efficient transactions, and adherence to sanitation and safety standards.

This position involves working across food & beverage outlets as needed, with age-related alcohol handling requirements where applicable and mandatory certifications.

Qualifications

• Must be able to procure and maintain all required certifications and licensing for the purpose of food and alcohol handling.

Responsibilities

• Sells concessions, including soft drinks and various food items, to external and internal customers.
• May be assigned to any outlet of the food & beverage operations based on multiple factors, including business need, skill set, and availability.
• Where applicable, must be of appropriate age to comply with all laws, policies, and procedures related to the sale, handling, and/or service of alcoholic beverages, which are sold in most outlets.
• Serves customers in an efficient and friendly manner following outlined steps of service.
• Interacts with customers and resolves customer complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner. Relays relevant information to supervisor.
• Performs sales transactions in a reasonable and timely fashion. Enters sales into the cash register to ensure purchases are accurately recorded.
• Adheres to Levy Payment Integrity Policy for processing accepted payment forms and transactions.
• Maintains a clean, hygienic, functional, and aesthetically pleasing guest-facing area, including stocking & organizing condiments and general supplies, and cleaning guest-facing chairs/tables/counters & service areas.
• Ensures compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
