Job Title: Cashier-Scrap Processing Facility

Job Summary:

The Cashier is responsible for accurately processing customer transactions for scrap metal purchases, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This position requires attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Greet and assist customers in a professional and courteous manner.

Accurately process scrap metal purchases using the company's point-of-sale and scrap purchasing systems.

Verify customer identification and required documentation in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Issue payment to customers in the appropriate form (cash, check, or digital payment) and obtain necessary signatures.

Maintain organized and accurate transaction records, including weight tickets, purchase reports, and regulatory paperwork.

Balance cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift, reconciling any discrepancies.

Communicate with scale operators, yard staff, and management to ensure smooth transaction flow and resolve issues as needed.

Assist with pricing inquiries, material identification questions, and customer concerns.

Maintain a clean, organized, and secure cashiering area.

Follow all safety procedures and company policies.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Previous cashier, administrative, or customer service experience preferred.

Basic computer skills and familiarity with POS systems.

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage cash and transaction records accurately.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work in an industrial, outdoor environment with exposure to weather and scrap material.

Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods.

Work Environment:

• Industrial scrap yard setting with regular interaction with customers, scale operators, and yard staff.

Requires occasional exposure to noise, dust, and outdoor elements.
