Food Clerk-Cashier

Part Time – Hourly

Primary Responsibilities

1. Greet, assist, and politely ring out customers
2. Process purchases quickly and accurately using electronic cash registers, scanners, and scales
3. Clean register area including floors, check lanes, and scales
4. Prevent loss by careful handling of products, accurate pricing, and proper use of store procedures for coupons, vouchers, checks, and cards
5. Ensure safety for all by understanding and practicing store safety rules and reporting hazards
6. Bag customer purchases efficiently and correctly
7. Operate and understand safety and operational requirements of cash registers, scanners, scales, and intercom systems
8. Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned by supervisors and managers to ensure excellent customer service

Supervision

Cashiers report directly to the Front-End or Store Manager.

Qualifications

1. Exceptional customer service skills
2. Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
3. High School Diploma or equivalent
4. Prior experience in related fields preferred

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

• Stand for at least 4 hours
• Lifting up to 40 lbs. from 6 to 48 inches
• Moving items up to 15 feet
• Ability to retrieve merchandise from shelves at approximately 84 inches high
• Bending and twisting during cleaning and loading/unloading tasks
