Responsibilities include:

  • Processing customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
  • Understanding and operating the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders like cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
  • Adhering to cash handling limits and working honestly to control loss.
  • Following guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
  • Reporting pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Following policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  • Staying current with advertisements and promotions.
  • Adhering to food safety regulations and safety procedures.
  • Maintaining safety by complying with safety programs, identifying hazards, and notifying management.
  • Inspecting equipment regularly and reporting repairs needed.
  • Creating a welcoming environment by assisting customers and answering questions about products.
  • Complying with all applicable laws and company policies.
  • Working cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Managing conflict professionally and cooperatively.
  • Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking help when needed to resolve issues.
  • Supporting and assisting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
