Summary
Operates cash register to itemize and total customer’s purchases in a retail store and assists with other store functions as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet customers as they enter the store.
- Assist customers in finding items and answering questions.
- Perform all cash register operational duties.
- Bag sold merchandise.
- Carry customer purchases to car as needed.
- Count money in the cash drawer at the beginning and end of shift; ensure two initials on the Daily Deposit and Bank Deposit forms.
- Move stock to proper display areas; remove out-of-date items from display.
- Maintain display areas including fixtures, racks, shelves, and bins.
- Monitor dressing rooms and restrooms.
- Watch for theft.
- Answer telephone, assist customers, respond to requests, and direct calls appropriately.
- Clean store areas, including restrooms, as directed.
- Suggest operational improvements.
- Ensure understanding of personnel policies and cashier training manual.

Qualifications
- Ability to perform essential duties, pass drug and background checks.
- Educational background accepted; experience or training preferred.
- English reading ability; basic math skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and apply common sense.
- Forklift certification if applicable.
Physical Demands
- Stand, walk, handle objects, reach, bend, lift up to 100 pounds, see clearly.
Work Environment
- Exposure to outdoor weather, fumes, dust, animal hair, noise; use of safety precautions.
