Responsibilities include:

  • Processing customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
  • Understanding and operating the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
  • Adhering to company policies on cash shortages/overages and loss control.
  • Following guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
  • Reporting pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Managing postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons according to established policies.
  • Staying current with advertisements and promotions.
  • Adhering to all food safety regulations and safety procedures.
  • Creating a welcoming environment for customers and assisting with product questions.
  • Following all applicable laws and company guidelines.
  • Working cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Managing conflicts in a non-confrontational manner.
  • Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking assistance when needed.
  • Supporting and assisting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Performing essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.
