Responsibilities include:

  • Processing customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at checkouts.
  • Understanding and operating the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders including cash, checks, credit/debit cards, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures per company policy.
  • Adhering to company policies on cash shortages and overages, and working to control loss.
  • Following guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
  • Reporting pricing discrepancies.
  • Managing postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons according to established policies.
  • Staying current with ads and promotions.
  • Following food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Ensuring safety by complying with safety procedures, reporting unsafe conditions, and participating in safety programs.
  • Inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs needed.
  • Creating a welcoming environment, assisting customers, and answering product questions.
  • Complying with all relevant laws and company policies.
  • Working effectively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Managing conflict professionally and cooperatively.
  • Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking help when needed.
  • Supporting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Performing essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
