Customer Service

• Greet customers with a smile and eye contact. Assist customers with questions in a prompt, friendly, courteous manner, referring them to other staff when necessary. Offer suggestions for purchases and ways to prepare products.
• Help customers place and pick up special orders.

Cashiering

• Check out customer purchases quickly and accurately, using correct prices, PLUs and departments.
• Call for backup as needed so that customers wait as little as possible to get checked out.
• Bag customer purchases. Offer to carry groceries or call for help if available.
• Close out registers following established procedures and balance cash drawer at the end of the shift.
• Refer unresolved customer questions or problems to the customer service desk or Floor Coordinator.
• Promote membership and receive membership payments.
• Inform customers of specials or upcoming events.

Department Maintenance

• Keep checkout and storage areas clean and orderly: dust shelves, clean up spills and other hazards, sweep and mop floors as needed, take out trash and recyclables, remove boxes.
• Alert the Floor Coordinator to potential shoplifters, disorderly customers, or other emergencies.

Other Tasks

• Perform other tasks assigned by the Front End Manager.
• Attend department meetings, storewide meetings, and training as scheduled.

Physical Demands

Employee must stand for long periods, use hands to handle product and POS system, talk or hear, reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must lift or move up to 25 pounds. Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
