Job Description

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for Cashier (Part-time) in the ARC – Adult Rehabilitation Center.

Job Summary

• Assist store customers in selecting and purchasing items.
• Operate and maintain a cash register; collect monies, count change, and prepare receipts.
• Balance the cash register drawer and print routine register printouts.
• Prepare and deliver bank deposits.
• Respond to customer questions and assist with donations.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of merchandise and displays.
• Maintain the security of the cash register area and merchandise.
• Clean display racks, shelves, floors, windows, and mirrors.
• Answer the store telephone courteously.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Effective customer service techniques.
• Basic mathematics principles and practices.
• Effective communication in English.

Education And Experience

High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred; retail experience preferred or equivalent training and experience.

Licenses and Certifications

None required.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Operate a cash register and answer the telephone.
• Perform routine mathematical computations accurately and timely.
• Physical effort includes sitting, walking, standing, lifting (less than 50 lbs.), bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling (75-100% of work time).
