Job description

• Provide efficient and courteous service to customers at all times, including inviting customers to check out. NEVER sign off the register with a customer waiting; always wait until someone comes to relieve you.
• Scan and ring up customer orders according to company policy and store productivity standards. Ensure items are credited to the correct department and all items are removed from the cart.
• Receive and be accountable for all funds collected during transactions.
• Assist the courtesy clerk in bagging groceries.
• Keep the work station and surrounding area neat and clean.
• Know and comply with all state and local laws regarding beer and wine sales.
• Know and follow all federal laws related to WIC handling.
• Adhere to all coupon handling procedures.
• Follow company policies for check cashing and tendering procedures.
• Understand and comply with policies for Debit Card, Credit Card, Gift Card, EBT Cash, and EBT Food Stamp transactions.
• Use assigned tills properly according to company policy.
• Take weekly produce tests.
• Ensure all not-on-file items are recorded and submitted daily.
• Follow proper procedures for obtaining change.
• Use the intercom correctly.
• Avoid conversing with other associates while checking out orders.
• Understand and be able to explain the ValuCard program.
• Assist with light stocking duties (candy, cigarettes).
• Sweep the front end area.
• Return misplaced items to their proper locations.
• Maintain cleanliness of bathrooms.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
