Job Title: Cashier at Corner Bakery

Description

The Cashier is responsible for creating a guest-focused environment while ensuring accurate financial transactions throughout the shift. Responsibilities include verifying initial cash, answering phone calls, preparing beverages, cooking soups, setting up displays, managing the condiment station, and FOH setup. Additional duties include frosting cakes, cutting bars/brownies, emptying trash, cleaning, and assisting with other tasks such as expo, serving, or bussing as needed.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

• Prepare coffee/tea and specialty drinks as a barista.
• Package sweets and cakes.
• Maintain and change displays based on the time of day.
• Set up and maintain condiment stations and FOH setup.
• Operate cashier station and manage cash flow, verify initial cash, and ensure transaction accuracy.
• Answer phone inquiries and describe food offerings, allergens, and nutrition.
• Engage in upselling and suggestive selling.
• Frost cakes, cut bars/brownies, and keep FOH stocked.
• Perform cleaning tasks such as emptying trash, mopping, and sweeping.
• Communicate effectively with guests, address issues, and support company initiatives.
• Follow safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Assist with delivering food, bussing, cleaning, restocking, and restroom checks as needed.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• State Food Handler Card/ServSafe certification if applicable.
• At least 3 months of experience handling cash preferred, especially in restaurant or retail settings.
• Strong guest service and communication skills.
• Organized and detail-oriented.
• Proficient in POS systems.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
