Cashier

Department: Grocery | Job Status: Full/Part Time | FLSA Status: Non-Exempt | Reports To: Store Manager/Assistant Manager | Work Schedule: Flexible | Positions Supervised: None

Position Summary

• Responsible for working a shift accurately and efficiently, within company policy, to contribute to increased profitability.
• Receive and disburse money, process credit/debit transactions, and validate checks using electronic scanners, cash registers, or related equipment.

Essential Functions

• Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure correctness.
• Establish or identify prices of goods and services.
• Stock shelves and hang tags.
• Monitor checkout stations for adequate cash and staffing.
• Record all transactions and store merchandise usage accurately.
• Report personnel issues or policy violations to management.
• Maintain low cash drawer levels and follow safe cash handling procedures.
• Complete shift reports and follow vendor check-in procedures.
• Perform cleaning duties around checkouts and store front.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Less than high school education.
• No prior experience necessary.
• Must have access to a phone, be able to read operating instructions, operate a cash register for up to 8 hours, lift at least 25 pounds, and perform basic math functions.
