Responsibilities include:

  • Processing customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at checkouts.
  • Understanding and operating the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders like cash, checks, credit/debit cards, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, and coupons, following company policies.
  • Adhering to company policies on cash shortages/overages and loss prevention.
  • Following guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
  • Reporting pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Managing postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons according to policies.
  • Staying current with promotions, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Following all food safety and safety procedures, reporting unsafe conditions or incidents.
  • Inspecting equipment regularly and notifying management of repairs.
  • Creating a welcoming environment, assisting customers with questions about products and store services.
  • Complying with all applicable laws and company policies.
  • Working cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Managing conflicts professionally and maintaining honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking help when needed to resolve issues.
  • Supporting diverse customer needs, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Performing essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
