Responsibilities

• Scanning items: Cashiers scan each item a customer wants to purchase, using a barcode scanner or manually entering the item's code.
• Processing payments, including cash, credit or debit cards, and checks. They should be able to count change accurately and provide receipts to customers.
• Handling returns and exchanges: If a customer wants to return or exchange an item, the cashier should process the request according to store policies and with manager approval.
• Keeping the register area clean and organized: Cashiers are responsible for keeping their work area clean and organized, including the cash register, scanner, and bags.
• Resolving customer complaints: If a customer has a problem or complaint, the cashier should try to resolve it quickly and courteously, or refer the customer to a supervisor if necessary.
• Help stocking when needed.
• Sweep and mop as needed.
