Citarella - The Ultimate Gourmet Market in Greenwich, CT is hiring friendly, dependable cashiers to join our Front-End team. You will create a welcoming checkout experience, process transactions accurately, and provide the exceptional service that defines Citarella.

Full-time and part-time opportunities may be available depending on store needs. Previous cashier or retail experience is preferred, but not required; training is provided to learn our POS system and product lookup codes.

Qualifications

• Previous cashier, retail, grocery, or customer service experience preferred but not required.
• Strong guest service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Basic math skills and ability to accurately handle monetary transactions.
• Ability to learn and operate POS systems and follow transaction procedures.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn Citarella's products, store procedures, and service standards.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests and provide friendly, attentive service throughout the checkout experience.
• Accurately process cash, credit, debit, and other accepted payment methods using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
• Scan, weigh, and bag merchandise carefully while maintaining checkout efficiency and product quality.
• Learn and accurately apply product lookup codes, including produce and prepared-food items.
• Follow established cash-handling procedures, including register counts, transaction verification, and drawer reconciliation.
• Assist guests with product questions, pricing concerns, and general inquiries, escalating issues to front-end leadership when necessary.
• Follow company procedures for refunds, discounts, voids, and other transactions requiring management approval.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well‑stocked checkout station.
• Support front-end operations by assisting with guest flow, bagging, and other department needs.
• Follow company policies, safety procedures, and loss-prevention standards.
• Collaborate with team members and leadership to maintain a positive shopping experience.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Role Overview

• Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on store needs.
