Job Title: Cashier at Corner Bakery

Description

The Cashier is responsible for creating a guest-focused environment while ensuring the accuracy of transactions. Responsibilities include verifying cash, answering phone calls, preparing beverages, cooking soups, setting up displays, managing the condiment station, and maintaining the front-of-house setup. Additional duties include frosting cakes, cutting bars and brownies, cleaning, and supporting other roles such as expo, server assistant, or bussing as needed.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

• Prepare coffee, tea, and specialty drinks as a barista
• Package sweets and cakes
• Maintain and update displays throughout the day
• Set up and manage the condiment station and front-of-house displays
• Operate the cashier station, ensuring accurate cash flow and transactions
• Verify initial cash and handle financial transactions
• Answer guest inquiries about food, allergens, and nutrition
• Engage in upselling and suggestive selling
• Frost cakes and cut baked goods
• Maintain cleanliness by emptying trash, sweeping, and mopping
• Communicate effectively with guests and address concerns
• Support company initiatives related to sales, guest service, and food safety
• Follow safety and sanitation standards
• Assist with delivering food, bussing tables, cleaning, and restocking as needed
• Check restroom cleanliness and perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• State Food Handler Card/ServSafe certification (if applicable)
• At least 3 months of experience in cash handling, preferably in restaurant or retail environments
• Strong guest service and communication skills
• Organized and detail-oriented
• Proficient in POS systems
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
