Job summary

Wegmans in the United States is seeking a friendly cashier to help customers at traditional checkout and self-checkout lanes. You will provide proactive service, scan items accurately, and ensure customers end their visit with a positive impression.

Key duties include engaging customers, bagging efficiently, directing traffic at self-checkout, and keeping your workspace clean and well-stocked. Previous experience with cash registers and a customer-service mindset are important.

In this role, you’ll provide proactive incredible customer service as you assist customers in both traditional checkout and self-checkout lanes. What will I do?

Experience operating a cash register; Collective customer service experience, internally and/or externally preferably in a food service, grocery or retail setting; Work Environment: The physical demands of this work are classified as light to medium. Work includes repetitive hand and arm movements, lifting, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, occasional bending, frequent reaching, moving and lifting, frequent to constant turning to the left, along with continuous interaction with customers and coworkers in a fast-paced environment. The average weight range of items lifted is 5 – 12 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 40 pounds occasionally. Upper extremity repetition is moderately high and trunk movement involves moderately high twisting, bending, and pivoting. May receive assistance with heavy items, if available. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction). The work environment is indoors. Basic tools and equipment used include cash register, scan gun, shopping bags and bagging fixtures, and shopping carts and baskets.
