Job Description

Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly.
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
- Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
- Adhere to the company's cash handling limits and work honestly to control loss.
- Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
- Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
- Stay current with advertisements and promotions.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions or incidents.
- Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products.
- Follow all legal and company guidelines.
- Work effectively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflicts cooperatively and professionally.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
- Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Customer service experience
- Effective communication skills
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)
Desired Previous Job Experience:
- Customer service experience
- Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
