Responsibilities include:

  • Processing customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
  • Understanding the Point of Sale (POS) system and handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
  • Adhering to company limits on cash shortages and overages, and working honestly to control loss.
  • Following guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
  • Reporting pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Following policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  • Staying current with advertisements and promotions.
  • Adhering to food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforcing safety programs and reporting unsafe conditions or incidents.
  • Creating a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products.
  • Complying with all laws and company policies.
  • Working cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Managing conflict in a reasonable manner.
  • Maintaining honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking assistance when needed.
  • Supporting and assisting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Performing essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
