Responsibilities include:

  • Processing customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
  • Understanding and handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
  • Adhering to company limits on cash shortages and/or overages and working honestly to control loss.
  • Following guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
  • Reporting pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Following established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  • Staying current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforcing safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions or incidents.
  • Creating an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products.
  • Following all applicable laws and company guidelines.
  • Working cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Managing conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
  • Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking assistance when needed.
  • Supporting and assisting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Performing essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
