Responsibilities

1. Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly.
2. Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
3. Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures per company policy.
4. Adhere to company policies on cash shortages/overages and control loss effectively and honestly.
5. Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
6. Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
7. Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
8. Stay updated on current, seasonal, and promotional ads.
9. Comply with food safety regulations and guidelines.
10. Support safety programs by following procedures and reporting unsafe conditions or incidents.
11. Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
12. Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products.
13. Follow all applicable laws and company guidelines.
14. Work effectively in a high-paced, stressful environment and manage conflicts professionally.
15. Maintain honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
16. Follow directions and seek help when needed to resolve issues.
17. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
18. Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications

• Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)
