Responsibilities include:

  • Processing customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at checkouts.
  • Understanding and operating the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders like cash, checks, credit/debit cards, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, and coupons, following company policies.
  • Adhering to cash handling limits and working honestly to control loss.
  • Following guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
  • Reporting pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Managing postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons according to policies.
  • Staying current with advertisements and promotions.
  • Following food safety regulations and safety procedures.
  • Reinforcing safety programs, identifying unsafe conditions, and reporting issues.
  • Performing preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs.
  • Creating a welcoming environment, assisting customers with product questions.
  • Complying with all applicable laws and company policies.
  • Working cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Managing conflicts professionally and cooperatively.
  • Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking help when needed to resolve issues.
  • Supporting and assisting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Performing essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
