Responsibilities include:

  • Processing customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
  • Understanding and operating the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
  • Adhering to company limits on cash shortages and/or overages and working honestly to control loss.
  • Following guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
  • Reporting pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Following policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  • Staying current with advertisements and promotions.
  • Adhering to food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforcing safety programs, complying with safety procedures, and reporting unsafe conditions or incidents.
  • Performing equipment inspections and notifying management of repairs.
  • Creating a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions and assisting as needed.
  • Complying with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Working cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Managing conflicts in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
  • Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking assistance to resolve issues.
  • Supporting and assisting diverse customer needs, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Performing essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
