Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Customer service experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly.
  2. Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the check lane.
  3. Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, coupons, and loyalty offers according to company policy.
  4. Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages, working honestly to control loss.
  5. Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
  6. Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  7. Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  8. Stay current with advertisements and promotions.
  9. Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
  10. Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
  11. Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
  12. Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products.
  13. Comply with all relevant laws and company policies.
  14. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  15. Manage conflicts professionally and cooperatively.
  16. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  17. Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
  18. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  19. Perform all essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
