Responsibilities

• Be visible, greet, engage, and assist customers as a cashier/checker.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
• Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages, working honestly to control loss.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
• Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
• Create a welcoming environment for customers, answering questions about products.
• Comply with all laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts non-confrontationally and cooperatively.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
• Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).

Desired Experience: Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
