Cashier Responsibilities:
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at check lanes.
  • Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons) according to company policy.
  • Adhere to company limits on cash shortages/overages and work to control loss.
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
  • Report pricing discrepancies.
  • Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  • Stay current with ads and promotions.
  • Comply with food safety regulations.
  • Reinforce safety programs, report unsafe conditions or accidents.
  • Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers.
  • Follow all laws and company guidelines.
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflict professionally.
  • Maintain honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek help when needed.
  • Support minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
