Job summary

NKC Health is seeking a detail-oriented Cash Posting Specialist to join our Patient Accounts team in Kansas City, MO. Under the supervision of the Patient Accounts Director, you will manage cashiering, cash posting, and ERA review to ensure posting accuracy and timely patient refunds.

You will handle accounts receivable activities, troubleshoot complex payment issues, and support exceptional customer service to optimize revenue and experience for patients and payers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in business office, customer service, or financial-related position.
• 3–5 years in medical/hospital setting preferred.
• Experience with ERA and posting accuracy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform cashiering and cash posting duties with timely accuracy.
• Review ERA to ensure posting accuracy and troubleshoot payment issues.
• Process payer refund requests after reviewing third-party payment audits.

Under the direction of the Patient Accounts Director, performs all cashiering and/or cash posting duties in a timely and efficient manner. Ensures posting accuracy through careful review of electronic remittance advices (ERA). Troubleshoots complex payment issues. Processes all payer refund requests after review of third-party payment audits. manages account receivable activities to ensure optimal revenue outcomes and customer experience.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 2 years in business office setting, customer service, or financial-related position required; 3-5 years in medical/hospital-related position preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Proficient typing and 10-key; excellent customer service and communication skills required; excellent judgement skills in handling difficult situations; ability to work in fast-paced environment; ability to problem solve issues where analysis and complex decision making is required; decisions and actions have direct impact on hospital financials.

OTHER

Exceptional customer service skills; skilled in Microsoft Excel; ability to work independently; familiarity of electronic remittances preferred; knowledge of lockbox processes preferred.
