The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis is seeking a Cash Operations Specialist to join the Ninth District currency processing team. Reporting to the Cash Operations Supervisor, you will operate high-speed currency processing machines, verify shipments, and help maintain accuracy and accountability of currency and coin in a regulated environment.

This entry-level role requires basic mathematics and currency handling experience; onsite work five days a week with some overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college education preferred.
• Proficiency with basic mathematics.
• Proficiency in accounting skills preferred.
• Entry level position.
• Some experience in currency handling, financial services or operations environment preferred.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform in a regulated, compliance-focused environment following local procedures and controls.
• Prepare currency and coin shipments for depository institutions to meet quality standards.
• Verify incoming currency and coin shipments.
• Operate high-speed currency processing machines in a production environment.
• Balance team inventory daily through the cash application system and maintain custody controls.
• Work in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with colleagues.
• Overtime may be required to address out-of-balance situations or heavy volume periods.
• Complete counterfeit detection training and forklift certification training.

Reporting to the Cash Operations Supervisor, our Cash Services department is looking for a Cash Operations Specialist to join the Ninth District Federal Reserve Bank currency processing operations in our Minneapolis location.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform job functions in a regulated and compliance-focused, operational environment. Follow local procedures and controls to ensure compliance with the U.S. Treasury and Federal Reserve Board of Governors guidelines.
• Maintain quality and productivity standards. Prepare currency and coin shipments for depository institutions to meet all quality standards. Verify all in-coming currency and coin shipments from depository institutions.
• Verify supporting documentation with the currency to ensure integrity and accuracy of the deposit.
• Operate and monitor high-speed currency processing machines in a production and processing operation. Verify all currency and ensure accountability for all notes.
• Count and manage a large quantity of currency or coin on a 1-4 member team. Maintain custody control standards and ensure supporting documentation for all transactions is completed. Balance the team inventory daily through the cash application system.
• Participate in team-oriented environment while working in close proximity with other employees.
• Mandatory overtime is required to address out-of-balance situations or heavy volume periods.
• Required to complete and pass, as a requirement of the position, counterfeit detection training and testing, and forklift certification training and testing.

Additional Information

*Onsite work is an essential function of this position, and you are expected to be in the office 5 days per week for meetings and team collaboration and along with occasional weekends and/or temporary shifts outside regular work schedules. Individuals may also provide on call coverage as needed.

* Salary range is $42,700-$53,405-$64,100 (For Level II: $46,900- $58,565- $70,300). ( Targeted Range: $45,000-$55,000) Salary offer will be based on qualifications/experience of the candidate, alignment with market data, the needs of the position, our total compensation package, and internal equity.
