Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Cash Posting Specialist in Milwaukee to accurately post payments and adjustments from ERAs, EOBs, and patient payments within the revenue cycle. This full-time role reports to the Cash Posting team and requires an associate degree or equivalent experience, plus 2 years in cash operations or related fields.

The position offers a 40-hour workweek, with a typical schedule of Monday–Friday 7:00 AM–5:00 PM and a pay range of $21.85–$32.80 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Post high volumes of payments, denials, and adjustments from ERAs, EOBs, and patient payments.
• Apply all payments (bank lockbox, 835 files, credit cards, checks) to patient accounts promptly.
• Post non-cash vouchers and manual adjustments with proper documentation.
• Monitor and resolve unapplied cash daily; reduce unapplied and undistributed funds.
• Reconcile posted payments with bank deposits and remittance files.
• Post denials and route for follow-up.
• Maintain proficiency in payment posting systems and account management tools.
• Perform administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and processing PDFs.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, productivity, quality, and audits.
• Demonstrate organizational and time management to meet deadlines.
• Apply basic AR management principles for financial accuracy.

Major Responsibilities:

• Accurately post high volumes of payments, denials, and adjustments from electronic remittance advices (ERAs), paper EOBs, and patient payments.
• Apply all payments including bank lockbox, 835 files, credit card, check payments, and accounting GL transfer s, to the appropriate patient accounts in a timely and accurate manner.
• Post non-cash vouchers and manual adjustments, ensuring proper documentation and reconciliation of all transactions.
• Monitor and resolve unapplied cash daily, working to reduce both unapplied and undistributed funds from clearing and patient account perspectives.
• Reconcile posted payments with bank deposits and remittance files to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Accurately post all denials and route them to the appropriate departments for follow-up.
• Maintain proficiency in integrated systems and tools used for payment posting and account management.
• Perform administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and processing PDFs of related documents.
• Adhere to Advocate Health policies, procedures, productivity and quality standards, and internal audit guidelines.
• Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills to meet daily posting and reconciliation deadlines.
• Apply basic accounting and accounts receivable (AR) management principles to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

Education Required:

Associate degree or Equivalent Experience

Experience Required:

2 years of Experience in Project Management or Cash Operations related fields.
