Description

CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES CASEWORKER

EDUCATION

High School Diploma Required. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or in a child related or social services field preferred.

EXPERIENCE

One year experience working directly with children in a child-related field with degree;

OR

Five years’ experience working directly with children in a child-related field with some college;

OR

Seven to ten years’ experience working directly with children in a child-related field.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to work with persons from various ethnic backgrounds, with particular emphasis in working with families of African American heritage.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Expected caseload is approximately 15-17 cases – PLEASE NOTE THAT ACTUAL CASELOAD WILL VARY ACCORDING TO AGENCY NEED.
  • Provide a full range of emergency/temporary care service to parents and children (which includes training, crisis intervention services, placement and monitoring, and transporting).
  • Work on-call hours as directed.
  • Interface with all providers for the purpose of planning meetings.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports and other reports that are required by Allegheny County Children and Youth Services, DPW and this agency.
  • Adhere to all other program and agency policies and procedures governing the objective of the agency and program.
This position requires a flexible work schedule to include evenings and weekends.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
  • Registered and insured vehicle.
  • Certificate of Insurance for vehicle.
  • Valid PA Inspection (even if vehicle is registered in another state).
  • Valid/Clean Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Current Act 33, Police Clearance and FBI Clearance.
  • City/County travel.
