Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a Non-Exempt, full-time Case Worker at the Mesquite Service Center to assess needs and develop case plans for low-income and at-risk individuals and families. You’ll provide direct services, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with program policies.

Responsibilities include documenting case notes, preparing timely reports, and delivering budgeting and life-skills classes. A high school diploma is required; bilingual Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; some college preferred.
  • One year case work or related experience.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Knowledge of food, rent, and utility assistance criteria and enrollment processes.
  • Experience with HMIS and Family Services software.
  • Ability to access at risk participants and situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and manage time.
  • Valid Nevada driver's license and pass MVR check; criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews, assess needs, and develop case plans.
  • Provide case management and needed services to low-income and at-risk individuals/families.
  • Prepare and submit required reports in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate program records for EFSP, SHARE AND REACH, volunteers and vendors.
  • Keep statistics related to demographics and types of assistance.
  • Write accurate case notes for each client.
  • Lead budgeting, banking and other life-skills classes.
  • Assist with seasonal events and drives; work in food pantry and stock shelves.
  • Maintain neat and organized work area; network with other agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide case management and needed services to low-income and/or at-risk individuals/families in compliance with program policies and procedures
  • Prepare and submit required reports to Family Services Ministries Coordinator in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate program records of EFSP, SHARE AND REACH programs, as well as volunteers and vendors
  • Keep statistics as related to demographics, types of assistance given
  • Write accurate and concise case notes for each client
  • Ability to lead and teach classes relating to budgeting, banking and other basic life skills
  • Aid with seasonal events and drives as needed
  • Work in food pantry; assisting clients and stocking shelves, bagging food and other related duties
  • Maintain neat and organized work area
  • Networking with other agencies and organizations
  • Other duties as assigned

The employee must have the ability to operate a telephone, desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
