Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis seeks a Case Manager to support students facing academic and personal challenges. The Indiana University (IU) School of Dentistry has been advancing oral health in the state and beyond since 1879, when it was founded as the Indiana Dental College. The Office of Student Affairs and Admissions at IU School of Dentistry leads the admissions, support, and retention of competent and qualified students and fosters a supportive, positive, interprofessional learning environment.

Job Summary

The Case Manager works directly with students facing academic, personal, and wellness challenges, helping develop effective time management, study skills, stress management strategies, and action plans to remain on track academically. In addition, this role collaborates closely with faculty, academic affairs, and student support partners to identify concerns early and coordinate timely interventions before issues escalated.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

• Provides 1-on-1 success coaching to support students, academic achievement, personal development, and overall well-being.
• Helps students set goals, improve time-management and study strategies, and navigate stress, motivation, and adjustment challenges.
• Collaborates with faculty, academic affairs, and campus partners to identify and support students experiencing academic or personal challenges through early intervention.
• Connects students with appropriate academic, wellness, campus, and community resources and assists with academic progress concerns and leaves of absence.
• Leads mindfulness, stress-reduction, and wellness programming to promote resilience and proactive well-being, particularly during high-stress periods.
• Contributes to multidisciplinary student support efforts and collaborates with student wellness organizations on campus-wide wellness initiatives and outreach.
• Serves as a member of the campus JAGS Care Team to provide immediate support during critical incidents.

General Responsibilities

• Provides direct services and acts as central point of contact for students who have experienced sexual, physical, or other misconduct.
• Conducts situational analysis and provides assistance and counseling to improve clients' social and psychological conditions.
• Assesses safety concerns, provides an overview of campus resources, and provides immediate and ongoing assistance to students in need.
• Helps guide students through procedures for various issues (requesting grade changes, withdrawing from classes, housing concerns, academic or administrative appeals) and providing assistance to ensure that students receive interim measures.
• Assists students with establishing a support network of family, friends, and community resources and creating personal development plans.
• Identifies and connects students to campus and community resources (direct or indirect referrals); accompanies students to informal or formal meetings with instructors or administrators as needed/requested
• Reviews university policies and procedures with students. Reviews procedures for investigations, judicial hearings, appeals, etc.
• Maintains case records in a secure and confidential manner, maintains statistics and administers ongoing program evaluations.
• Serves as a member of the sexual violence prevention and advocacy team, providing outreach and raising awareness about prevention and advocacy services provided by the department.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. $63,000.00 - 66,000.00 based on experience and internal equity.
