Position Summary:

The Case Packer Operator is responsible for operating case-packing equipment that packs finished products into cases for shipment. This position ensures that products are packed efficiently, meet quality standards, and are safely prepared for distribution. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Scheduled hours for this 3rd shift position are 10:30 PM - 7:00 AM, Monday - Friday. The pay rate starts at $20.00/hr.

Job Responsibilities:

Case Packing:

  • Operate case-packing machines to efficiently pack finished food products into shipping boxes.
  • Ensure the proper placement of products into cases, ensuring quality, accuracy, and proper sealing.
  • Monitor the flow of products through the packing process and make necessary adjustments to maintain efficiency.

Machine Operation & Maintenance:

  • Set up and adjust case packing equipment to meet production needs.
  • Perform routine maintenance on case-packing machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and ensuring proper function.
  • Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and work with maintenance staff to resolve equipment malfunctions.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect packed cases to ensure product quality and accuracy (e.g., correct number of units, proper seals, no product damage).
  • Report any quality issues or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
  • Ensure packaging materials (e.g., boxes, tape, labels) meet specifications and are in good condition.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Follow safety protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and food safety regulations at all times.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all sanitation guidelines.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with production and warehouse teams to ensure timely packing and shipment of finished products.
  • Assist in the training of new case-packing staff when necessary.

Record Keeping:

  • Accurately complete documentation related to production runs, packing quantities, and any discrepancies or quality issues.
  • Assist with inventory management by tracking packaging materials and finished product quantities.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate production equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to detect issues with product quality or packaging.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues and perform basic maintenance tasks.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety regulations in a food manufacturing setting.

Education & Experience:

  • Education:High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a Case Packer Operator or in a similar production role is preferred. Experience with case-packing machinery and automated systems is a plus.
  • Certifications: Forklift certification and food safety training (e.g., HACCP) are a plus but not required.

Work Environment:

  • Production facility setting.
  • Must wear required PPE while in all manufacturing areas.
  • Moving parts and machinery are present in the plant.
  • Noise levels will vary, higher noise levels exist while in the plant operations areas.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Occasional ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to physically perform functions of repetitive motion, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, balancing, and climbing.
