Development & Communication Manager at The Cathedral Center, Inc.

Job Summary:

Cathedral Center serves women and families with children who are experiencing homelessness and housing crises. The Case Manager Supervisor partners with our shelter program director and leadership team to ensure front door services are accessible, provided with compassion, and with adherence to ethical principles and core values of the agency. This includes collaboration and partnership with community resources such as Continuum of Care partners, emergency response professionals, and a broad array of social services providers.

Specifically, the Case Manager Supervisor is responsible for the selection, training, support and supervision of up to 4-5 full time team members, to include specific oversight of the case management team. Services include crisis intervention, on site activities, case management services, child & family programs and employment support. This is a relationship-focused position and will ensure necessary reports are completed, while also assuming a leadership role in collaborative community services. This position does offer a $2,000 hiring bonus!

Specific Job Duties:

Case management and intake oversight:

  • Provide selection, training and support/supervision of supportive services team at shelter: (3) Case Managers and interns or other volunteers.
  • Coordinate on site activities and day services schedules/calendars, ensuring team responsiveness to client needs and outside partnerships.
  • Model and facilitate effective crisis intervention
  • Provide leadership during weekly staff meetings and client reviews, representing the day services team.
  • Supervise case managers in the effective, compassionate and dignified provision of services, including: comprehensive assessments, case planning, referrals and follow up services to women and families experiencing housing crises and homelessness.
  • Share on-call responsibilities with other program leaders on a rotation.

Management and Administrative duties:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Programs to ensure accurate and timely HMIS data entry by team members and completion of client services and outcomes reports as required by funder agencies.
  • Collaborate with community resources and other homeless providers in coordination of service delivery.
  • Actively participate in community meetings and consortiums relative to Coordinated Entry, federal and local plans to end homelessness and the homeless provider network.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, professional, and up-to-date documentation of all supervisory and client-oriented services.
  • Actively collaborate and share leadership with the program and agency leadership teams to ensure strategic and effective program development, assessment of services and development of policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively, effectively, and professionally with Cathedral Center’s partner agencies, representing the Cathedral Center and all partner agencies in a professional and dignified manner at all times.

Skills and Qualifications:

Cathedral Center seeks a mission driven program leader, ideally with experience in serving individuals facing homelessness and housing crises.

Required:Bachelor degree in social services or related field

  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • At least 2 years of direct client service/case management experience.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally via written word, phone, email and in person.
  • Must be effective in use of excel, word and other Microsoft applications, as well as comfort in learning an internet based case management program.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work effectively with the public as well as diverse, vulnerable populations in a respectful and dignified manner are critical qualities.

The ideal candidate will have earned a master’s degree in social servicesor related field. Someone who remains confident and level-headed in times of crisis and is an effective, unsupervised multi-tasker is ideal for this position. Background in mental health services and trauma-informed care practices and/or education preferred. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.

This position is open to all qualified internal and external candidates. Candidates must be able to sit, stand, stoop, and walk for extended periods of time and be able to lift thirty pounds. All staff at the Cathedral Center are expected to work effectively both independently and in a team environment and to become familiar with and utilize a trauma-informed approach.
