Job summary

The Law Offices of the Public Defender in Santa Fe seeks a Case Manager to join the Social Work Unit. This role coordinates resources and helps develop alternative sentencing plans to support clients facing criminal charges in New Mexico.

Primary location is Santa Fe, with assignments possible in Taos and Rio Arriba counties. The position requires a driver’s license and compliance with confidentiality standards; probationary period and potential teleworking options are mentioned.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Human Services or Social Sciences and two years of experience in mental health and/or substance abuse counseling.
• Any combination of education and/or direct experience totaling four years may substitute for the required education and experience.
• Must have a driver’s license and be able to certify in Defensive Driving.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Case Managers assist Social Workers and Attorneys in addressing clients’ circumstances and developing service and alternative sentencing plans.
• Report to judicial partner offices as required and complete background checks.
• Refer clients to community resources and treatment, using agency databases for tracking.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to NASW Code of Ethics and trauma-informed practices.
• Coordinate with multiple agencies to support clients through the criminal-legal process.
