What will you be doing?
Victim Services Case managers provide assertive outreach and case management, evidence-informed mental health and support services, and crisis intervention to victims/families in crisis or quality of life concerns. Case managers actively engage with individuals who have experienced trauma or have mental health concerns to provide both clinical intervention and case management, mental health interventions, resource linkage, and advocacy services while addressing their multifaceted social and tangible needs. Case managers participate in community events, participate in ride a longs and police department roll calls. Case Managers will be available to work necessary overnight and weekend shifts to continue to staff a viable Victim Services program and assist with crisis line coverage when requested. Case Managers will be available to work in-house when assigned to a police department and flexible to cover other police departments or assignments.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Attend to scheduled work hours and be flexible to meet client and program needs, as assigned by Program Manager or Director.
- Respond to calls from shift start to shift end.
- Respond to calls upon being dispatched
- Be present in Police Departments with scheduled hours
- Provide Crisis Line Coverage when Assigned
- Complete assigned office hours.
- Provide advocacy and support to individuals and families experiencing crime/trauma or quality of life concerns.
- Complete documentation on a daily basis, including Victim Service case log, daily log, and case notes.
- Provide a minimum of three (3) follow-ups and three (3) appropriate referrals with assigned cases.
- Receive referrals from participating law enforcement agencies, assess the need for services, identify appropriate services, and conduct appropriate introductions to available services.
- Manage case load and follow up with clients on a weekly basis or per clients request based on need.
- Follow requirements on VCVA related cases
- Assist law enforcement as requested
- Provide educational trainings, presentations, and death notifications as requested.
- Participate in field training (job shadowing) for 30 days or until approved to work independently on cases.
- Acquire/maintain certification in First Aid, CPR, CPI, Mandated Reporting, ASIST training and 40 hour DV/SA training, and other agency required trainings.
- Maintain and update Outlook calendar with daily details of employment activities.
- Complete and maintain monthly and quarterly assigned reports.
- Participate in ride alongs and roll calls at least once a month for all contracting agencies.
- Complete a needs assessments for level of care.
- Maintain appropriate documentation for in-house case loads
- Manage schedule in a manner that allows timely completion of all duties and be available to program after hours.
- Transport clients in personal vehicle when applicable
- Assure client linkage to community resource
- Testify in court when applicable
- Assist clients in the navigation of the legal system
- Promote and maintain client rights, assure client choice
- Participate in committees as assigned
- Maintain a positive professional relationship with agencies, and stakeholder.
- Participate in outreach events (i.e. resource fairs/events) to promote program services and expand network.
- Promotes awareness and respect for the diversity of our clients, employees, families and other stakeholders.
- Complete required hours on the Crisis Line or as needed
- Become trained in Crisis Line procedures and protocols.

What will you bring to the table?
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field required. Master’s degree preferred. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
License/certifications
- 60 Hour DV/SA certification preferred.
- ASIST certification preferred
Experience
- Experience in crisis/emergency relief work, with at-risk, trauma and/or crisis clientele preferred.
Physical
- No lifting restrictions and navigation of stairs
Equipment
- Laptop, Copy Machine, FAX, Cell phone, Telephone with voice mail
Additional Requirements
- 24-HourAvailability: flexible hours when necessary-evening, weekends, and holidays
- May need to respond to all staff call out during major critical incidents overriding any prescheduled time off or other employment
- Valid Illinois driver’s license
- Drive self and clients in personal vehicle
- Must have the minimal amount of liability insurance on personal automobile as defined by the AID handbook
