Job summary

City and County of Denver seeks a dedicated Corrections Case Specialist I to manage a caseload of up to 20 participants in our new facility at 4511 E. 46 Ave, Denver.

The role emphasizes cognitive behavioral interventions and individualized plans to support reentry and pro-social change. Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s-level background in social or behavioral sciences or Criminal Justice, plus related experience.

Qualifications

  • Equivalency to a bachelor’s degree in social or behavioral sciences or Criminal Justice.
  • Experience in a related field or performing similar duties preferred.
  • Ability to obtain CPR, AED and First Aid certifications after hire.

Responsibilities

  • Direct care and facilitation of cognitive behavioral groups with clients.
  • Monitor clients during structured time and model pro-social behavior.
  • Conduct individual meetings to address criminogenic needs and risk reduction.
  • Maintain case plans and collaborate with clinical staff for discharge planning.
  • Attend weekly treatment team meetings and provide referrals as needed.

This case management role will be responsible for a caseload up to 20 participants. Successful candidates must complete and pass a background investigation that encompasses the applicant's employment and criminal history.The goal of Denver Community Corrections is to teach clients practical skills and tools needed to be successful upon reentry into the community. Emphasis is placed on treatment that specifically addresses criminogenic risk/needs by using social learning skill-building activities to assist with cognitive, social, emotional, and coping skill development. utilizes the Cognitive Behavioral Interventions – A Comprehensive Curriculum (CBI-CC) treatment model.Job responsibilities will include:Direct care and facilitation of cognitive behavioral groups with the client populationMonitoring of clients during structured timeModel pro-social behaviors and providing on-going behavior change feedback to clientsIndividual meetings with clients to address their individual criminogenic needsAttend weekly treatment team meetingsDocumenting individual and group client interactionsProviding referrals as appropriate to address criminogenic needs that are not targeted through CBI-CC CurriculumCompleting the Standardized Offender Assessment -Revised (SOA-R)Completing case plans in collaboration with the clientDischarge planning with client and assigned Clinical staffParticipating in ongoing training to further enhance working with the populationAssist other Denver community programs when neededOther duties as assignedAbout YouOur ideal candidate will have:Have experience working in Community Corrections or with a Criminal Justice Involved PopulationStrong computer skillsKnowledge of research and interviewing techniques sufficient to be able to determine what information is needed, secure and analyze desired information, and formulate logical recommendations Consistent attention to detail and the ability to multi-taskCommitment to working collaboratively within a team to ensure work is completed timelyMotivated to work with high risk/high need clients and ability to demonstrate a healthy working alliance with clients to assist them with behavior change and risk reductionBelow are the minimum requirements used to determine eligibility for this position:Education Requirement: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social or behavioral sciences, Criminal Justice, or related fields required.Experience Requirement: Experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities preferred.Education and Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.License/Certification Requirement: Possession of, or ability to obtain, Adult CPR, AED, Naloxone, and First Aid certifications after date of hire.
