Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 2 years of SUD service experience, or higher degree.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality regulations (federal/state) governing client information.
  • Experience or training in trauma-informed care and recovery services.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and record medical, psychological and social factors to determine strengths, needs, abilities and preferences.
  • Perform case management duties: make referrals, link clients to resources, advocate for clients.
  • Contribute to discharge planning, housing and aftercare referrals; provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Group facilitation including Narcan training and MAUD education; participate in staff meetings and case conferences.

Job description

Recovery Network of Programs, Inc. (RNP) is a private, non-profit social service agency that has been serving the Greater Bridgeport Community and Fairfield County area since 1972. RNP is dedicated to helping those living with substance use, mental health disorders, and homelessness. Our mission is to restore hope, health, and well-being for individuals and families in a recovery environment that embraces compassion, dignity, and respect.Tina Klem Serenity House: This program is a recovery house for 12 women who have co-occurring substance abuse and psychiatric disorders. The women may also have a history of trauma. Residents are provided with a variety of psycho-educational groups such as life skills training, parenting skills, employment search, anger management, relapse prevention, health and wellness, safety, and coping skills.Hours Available: Monday to Friday from 9:00 am - 5:00 pmSPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties are subject to accommodation in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).Assess and record medical, psychological and social factors to the individuals’ unique circumstances, including an assessment of strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences.Perform Case Management duties to an assigned case load: make referrals, link clients to community resources, and community recovery and natural supports. Serve as an advocate.Assist with developing a discharge plan, including housing and aftercare referrals.Group Facilitation, including Narcan training, 1 key question and MAUD educationProvide a positive recovery focused environmentAdheres to RNP/QA Accumedic documentation requirementsAssumes all other duties as deemed necessary by supervisorAttend and participate in weekly staff meetings and case conferences.Ability to establish a rapport with clients and present in a professional mannerAbility to project a professional imageAbility to de-escalate situations as needed, crisis interventionKnowledge of best practices in providing services for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders, such as: client-centered care, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care.Ability to conduct potential new client screenings and intakesAbility to perform Medication Monitoring and documentation.Complete and document hourly roundsAssist with household management including ordering groceries, meal preparation and chores.QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge of the physical, psychological, social, and economic effects of substance abuse, mental health, and trauma.Valid CT Driver’s LicenseConsiderable knowledge of state and federal confidentiality regulationsEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:High school diploma or GED and 2 years of SUD service experience, Associate's degree in a human services or related field and 1 year of SUD service experience; or Bachelor's degree in a human services or other SUD-related field.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:Hourly rounds must have the ability to climb stairsAbility to lift 10 lbsCORE COMPETENCIESBachelors degree in the behavioral sciences and two (2) years experience in counseling preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
