Job summary

Program Overview

Tina Klem Serenity House is a recovery house for 12 women who have co-occurring substance abuse and psychiatric disorders. The women may also have a history of trauma. Residents are provided with a variety of psycho‑educational groups such as life skills training, parenting skills, employment search, anger management, relapse prevention, health and wellness, safety, and coping skills.

Hours

Availability to cover 4:00 pm – 12:00 am shifts on weekdays or weekends.

Core Functions
  • Assess and record medical, psychological, and social factors contributing to the individuals' unique circumstances, including an assessment of strengths, needs, abilities and preferences.
  • Plan and record the individual's progress with regard to finances, employment, nutrition, basic needs, housing, physical, mental health, well‑being, including any identified substance use disorders.
  • Assertively link person served to community resources and other natural supports.
  • Serve as an advocate for clients in obtaining necessary services.
  • Actively attend and participate in case management and treatment team meetings.
  • Record and monitor the recovery plan and perform follow‑up to determine quantity and quality of services provided.
  • Facilitate weekly groups.
  • Adhere to RNP standards of documentation.
  • Comply with, prepare and submit reports in a timely manner.
  • Assume all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in the behavioral sciences and two (2) years of experience in counseling preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Co‑occurring competencies and/or credentials are preferred.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of social service case management.
  • Knowledge of the physical, psychological, social and economic effects of substance abuse, mental health, and trauma.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate information pertinent to the provision of quality case services.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to project a professional image.
Certificates and Licenses
  • Incumbents may be encouraged to secure professional certification (e.g., CAC and/or SCCD).
  • Valid Connecticut driver’s license is required.
