Job summary

Salt Lake County is hiring a Case Manager in the Criminal Justice Services unit located in the jail. The role focuses on delivering evidence‑based case management to promote community safety while meeting court directives and client needs.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor's degree in a related field and may be preferred if bilingual in English and Spanish. A background check and RAP Back enrollment are required by policy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Social Sciences, Criminal Justice or equivalent.
  • Preference for bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Background check through fingerprinting and RAP Back enrollment required.

Responsibilities

  • Refer clients for court-ordered services and update case files in the system.
  • Identify criminogenic needs and create plans to reduce risk of offenses.
  • Assess readiness to change, provide crisis support, and coordinate interventions.
  • Interview clients, collaborate with criminal justice and treatment agencies.
  • Attend hearings and prepare PSR reports as required.

JOB SUMMARY

Provide case management utilizing acceptable case management practices addressing community safety, and client needs, and ensuring compliance with court directives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Social Sciences, Criminal Justice, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Preference will be given to applicants who are bilingual in English and Spanish.

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Refers clients for court‑ordered services. Utilizes acceptable case management practices regarding maintenance of the file and updating computerized case management system with all required information.
  • Provides appropriate level of supervision, identifies criminogenic needs, and creates a plan to reduce failure to appear and/or risk of further offenses.
  • Addresses criminogenic needs, reviews progress, provides immediate short‑term crisis assistance, and identifies further intervention as needed.
  • Assesses readiness to change, identifies barriers, provides support, and collaborates to facilitate positive changes.
  • Interacts with criminal justice agencies, treatment agencies, and other agencies providing services to clients to promote the client’s best interests.
  • Attends order to show cause hearings, review hearings, and evidentiary hearings at District and Justice Courts.
  • Conducts Presentence Investigation interviews, when required, following established PSR procedures and approved client questionnaires; compiles professional investigation reports, and submits to court in accordance with established agency procedures.
