Job summary

Good Shepherd – Mary's Place is hiring a housing support worker to assist residential and non-residential clients with case management, crisis intervention and supportive counseling. The role requires independence in a challenging, values-based setting, including cleaning and lifting as part of daily tasks.

You will develop a caseload, conduct resident intake, and design evaluation interviews to measure quality of life improvements, while maintaining strict confidentiality and safety compliance.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of issues impacting cis women, trans and non-binary individuals including violence, abuse, mental health, homelessness, poverty and substance use.
  • Residential setting experience preferred.
  • Experience with Intake and Assessment.
  • Commitment to mission values: availability, flexibility, adaptability, hospitality and dignity.
  • Post-secondary education in related field required.
  • CPR certification or willingness to certify.
  • Ontario driver's license (G) is an asset.
  • Flexible schedule.
  • French language skills considered an asset.
  • Commitment to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice.
  • Understanding of workplace health and safety practices.

Responsibilities

How You Will Make An Impact

The successful candidate will extend our mission to residential and non-residential clients through the provision of respectful and appropriate housing support services. This may include case management, crisis intervention and supportive counseling. The incumbent must be able to work independently in a challenging and rewarding values-based environment. This position is at a residential program and as such cleaning, lifting and carrying of items will be required tasks.

  • Develop and maintain a caseload

  • Design, implement, in consultation with supervisor, an interview schedule that will provide an evaluation of "quality of life" improvement of successful program participants
  • Maintain confidentiality with regards to clients/staff and Centre's records
  • Responsible for participating in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs, procedures, procedures and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients, staff and others as well as to the property of the Good Shepherd.
What You'll Bring To Our Team
  • Applicants should possess a thorough knowledge of issues impacting cis women, trans and non-binary individuals including violence, abuse, mental health, homelessness, poverty and substance use
  • Experience working in a residential setting is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with Intake and Assessment
  • A demonstrated commitment to the mission values of availability, flexibility, adaptability, hospitality and dignity is essential
  • A post-secondary education in a related field is required
  • C.P.R. certification (or willingness to be certified)
  • A valid Ontario driver's license (G) is also an asset
  • The successful candidate will have a flexible schedule
  • Ability to speak French and/or other languages considered an asset
