Job summary

The Illinois Association of School Administrators is seeking a Special Education Caseworker to support staff and principals with referrals, case study processes, and IEP-related activities in Chicago Heights area schools.

Qualifications

  • Current PEL license with endorsement in School Psychology or LBS1.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with staff on referrals and attend MTSS meetings.
  • Receive, review, and process referrals.
  • Schedule and participate in Initial case studies, reevaluations, Eligibility, and IEP conferences.
  • Coordinate data collection for case study staffings and screenings.
  • Inform staff including the principal and Director of Special Education at least one week in advance.
  • Complete staffing papers and file management for district files.
  • Review incoming special education folders and maintain records.
  • Coordinate out-of-district staffings with non-public schools.
  • Establish reevaluation lists and distribute data collection forms.
  • Forward necessary information to parents and outside agencies.
  • Forward staffing reports to the Special Education Director.
  • Participate in preschool screenings and related diagnostics.
  • Serve as district liaison to the Director of Special Education.
  • Coordinate and schedule Annual Reviews for assigned schools.
  • Provide input to district programming and other case manager duties.

Job description

1. Will consult with staff members and principals on potential referrals, attend MTSS meetings as needed, staffing schedules, and follow-up recommendations.

2. Will receive, review, and process all special education referrals .

3. Will schedule, conduct and participate in the following:

  • Initial case studies
  • Re-evaluation conferences
  • Eligibility Conference
  • IEP (Individualized Education Plan)

4. Will coordinate with staff the process of collecting data needed for case study staffings, screenings, and psychological consultations.

5. Will inform all staff members involved, including the principal and Director of Special Education of all case study conferences at least one week in advance.

6. Will complete all staffing papers and place appropriate copies in Manager's and Teacher's Special Education files.

7. Will review incoming special education student folders and keep an up-to-date account of all special education folders.

8. Will coordinate all out-of-district staffings (Packet B) with non-public schools.

9. Reevaluations - Will establish a list of all special education students due for reevaluation that school year and distribute appropriate forms for data collection for completion.

10. Will forward all necessary information to parents, other outside agencies when necessary who are unable to attend case study conferences.

11. Will forward to the Special Education Director the district's copy of all case study staffing reports: Staffing Notices, Eligibility, Psychological, Case Study Packets, etc.

12. Will participate in and assess problems with student's referral for preschool screenings through the use of testing and other diagnostic techniques.

13. Will be a district liaison to the Director of Special Education.

14. Will coordinate and schedule Annual Reviews for assigned schools.

15. The Special education caseworker will provide input to the Director of Special Education that is beneficial for district programming.

16. Will provide other case manager responsibilities as assigned by the Director.

Qualifications

Current PEL (Public Educator License) with endorsement in School Psychology or an LBS1.

Salary/Benefits

$49,144 - $60, 348; Commensurate with experience.
